Cookie Policy
1. What This Document Covers
This page describes which cookies and similar technologies Chalcophyll.info uses, why they are needed, and how you can manage your choices. It supplements the Privacy Policy, which covers information handling in general; here we focus only on browser storage technologies.
The core principle is simple: necessary cookies always run because the site cannot remember your own settings choice without them. Analytics and marketing technologies are not enabled until you give consent.
2. What Cookies Are
Cookies are small text files a site stores in your browser on your computer, tablet, or phone. They hold technical information — for example, a flag that the settings panel was already shown, or an anonymized identifier for aggregated visit statistics.
Cookies may be session-based or persistent. Session cookies are removed when you close the browser. Persistent cookies remain on the device until they expire or you delete them. Alongside cookies, sites use similar browser mechanisms such as local storage; we use it to remember your selected categories.
Cookies do not run programs, read files on your device, or transfer malware. They are data records accessible to the site that set them.
3. Categories We Use
The site uses three cookie categories, each represented by a separate toggle in the settings panel.
- Necessary. Support basic page operation, connection security, and storage of your settings choice. They cannot be disabled in the panel — without them the site cannot remember even a refusal of other categories.
- Analytics. Help us understand which materials are read, which pages are rarely opened, and where visitors leave the site. Data is used in aggregated form, not to identify a specific person.
- Marketing. Used to measure advertising campaign effectiveness for traffic that arrives from ads and to avoid showing ads to people who already submitted an inquiry. This category is off by default.
4. Necessary Cookies
Necessary cookies include records required for pages to work correctly: interface state, security markers, and your saved settings panel result. We set them based on legitimate interest because they are not used for advertising or behavioral tracking.
Your selected categories are saved in the browser’s local storage under the key roofmeter-guide-cookie-settings. This record prevents the settings panel from appearing on every visit and ensures your decision applies across all site pages.
If you completely block storage in the browser, the site remains readable, but you will need to confirm settings again on each visit.
5. Analytics Cookies
Analytics technologies activate only after you consent to this category. They collect summary metrics: visit counts, traffic sources, popularity of individual materials, average time on page, and device type.
We use this data to see which topics help readers and decide what to improve — for example, which materials to expand and which sections are rarely read.
If you decline analytics, the corresponding scripts do not run and visit statistics for your session are not collected.
6. Marketing Cookies
Marketing technologies also activate only with your consent. They show whether a visit came from an advertisement and help assess whether the ad was relevant. For us this means not spending budget on impressions that bring no value.
We do not use these technologies to build private-life profiles and we do not sell collected data. If you decline this category, you may still see ads elsewhere online, but they may be less relevant and we cannot measure their effectiveness.
For advertising and analytics tools we pass a signal about your consent: categories stay off until you enable them and turn on immediately after you save your choice.
7. Third-Party Cookies
Some technologies are set not by us but by services we use: web analytics platforms, advertising systems, and the mapping service through which our address is displayed. Those records follow those services’ rules and we do not control their contents.
We connect third-party services minimally and only for purposes described in this document. We recommend reading privacy policies of platforms we use if you need details about their operation.
8. Managing Your Choice on Our Site
On your first visit, a settings panel opens with three categories and three actions: accept all, accept selected, or keep necessary cookies only.
Your decision is not final. Every page has a persistent cookie settings button that opens and closes the same panel, where you can enable or disable categories at any time. A new choice applies immediately and replaces the previous one.
The panel works with the keyboard and closes with the Escape key, so you can manage settings without a mouse.
9. Managing Cookies in Your Browser
Regardless of settings on our site, you can manage cookies through your browser. Every modern browser has a privacy or site-data section where you can delete stored files, block them entirely, or allow them only for specific sites.
The exact path depends on your browser and version, so the most reliable approach is to open built-in help and search for cookies. Private browsing mode also removes site data when you close the window.
If you delete stored files, your category choice on our site will reset as well and the settings panel will appear again.
10. What Changes If You Disable Cookies
Site materials, navigation, the contact form, and legal documents remain available regardless of your choice — without optional categories the site works the same way. Declining analytics and marketing only affects us: we receive less data about what to improve.
A full browser-level block on storage means the settings panel will appear on every visit because there is nowhere to save your decision.
11. Updates to This Policy
We may update this document when the technologies we use change or when legal requirements change. The current version is always on this page, and the last update date appears at the top.
If changes are material, we will note them on this page and, if needed, ask for your consent again for optional categories.

Important Information
The materials on this site provide knowledge about residential solar preparation — roof assessment, shade observation, utility review, and permit planning. They are intended to help you understand the steps involved before contacting licensed professionals.
RoofMeter Guide is not a solar installation company. We do not visit homes to mount panels, schedule installations, or provide project quotes. We are also not a retail store: we do not sell panels, inverters, batteries, or compare equipment brands and models.
We do not promise payback timelines, specific savings figures, zero utility bills, or free electricity. Tax credits, utility rates, and interconnection rules change by state and provider — consult official government and utility sources for current information.
Grid interconnection, work inside your electrical panel, and structural roof assessments require licensed electricians, engineers, and local authorities. Do not attempt these tasks yourself based on website content.
Every home differs in roof condition, shading, consumption, and budget. A plan that worked for a neighbor may not fit your property. Any decisions about system size, equipment, or contractors are yours alone.
